Pedersen
Farms is located in Ontario County in the heart of
the
Finger Lakes Region
of central New York. Rick and Laura Pedersen began farming
here in 1983 and have spent the past 27 years growing
and diversifying their farm. Recently Rick and Laura were honored to receive the 2010 Rodney Lightfoote Agricultural Viability and Innovation Award. In 2001 the farm was awarded
an Agriculture Research and Development Grant by the
NY
Department of Agriculture and Markets. Laura received
an "Excellence
in IPM Award" in 2004. Rick and Laura serve on many community and agricultural boards.
We
have over 400 acres certified organic and
are a member of Finger Lakes Organics (FLO)
supplying restaurants and grocery stores in New York
City and upstate New
York.
We
are actively involved in our community
and business area. By practicing Integrated
Pest Management, nutrient management, etc., we are
advocates of land stewardship. Rick serves on the Board
of Directors of the Northeast
Hop Alliance and the NYS Agriculture and Markets
Organic Advisory Committee. Laura serves on the Town of Seneca Planning Board, the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce Board and chairs the Agriculture Committee. She is also a member of the Ontario County IDA board.
The
farm currently grows many different vegetables and
field
crops on about 1500 acres. We supply processors, wholesalers,
